ÖZET
OBJECTIVE:
Aterosclerosis is a main pathogenetic process in stroke development. ln aterosclerosis there can be mild increase in acure phase reactants due to chronic inflammation and this can determine the prognosis of the patient. Acute phase reactants can be concerned with the prognosis of the patients with stroke. However there are different conclusions in literature. But also it is claimed as CRP (C- reactive protein) doesn't give idea about the prognosis of cerebrovascular events. This acute increase in fibrinogen in patients with stroke can cause acule phase reaction secondary to ischemia and/or brain tissue necrosis. But this can also be the direct reason of stroke.
METHODS:
The goal of our study is to show the levels of fibrinogen and CRP in patients with stroke. And to determine the relation between the prognosis and the jibrinogen value in the first 24 hours.
RESULTS:
34 patients were taken to our study. They applied in the first 24 hours of acute ischemic stroke hetween the 2nd and 7th months in 2005. 21 of the patients were female, 13 were male. There was hypertension in 27 patients, diabetes mellitus in 12 patients, ischemic heart disease in 11 patients, smoking in 10 patients, and alcohol use in 4 patients.
CONCLUSION:
The conclusions were discussed with literature.
