ABSTRACT
Background:
The definitive treatment of psoriasis which has a chronic course and periodic improvements is still not possible. Because of this, although there are a lot of drugs and methods for its treatment, new ones are being added.
Objective:
Evaluating the efficacy of topical 0.25% tretinoin for plaque type psoriasis.
Materials and Methods:
0.25% topical tretinoin is applied to the 39 patients with plaque type psoriasis in the six week period. Results: We found 54.5% fall in the PASI value of 39 patients using topical 0.25% tretinoin twice a day at the and of the 6th week. This change is found significant statistically. Related to the treatment, we observed local irritation in the first 3-4 days in 5 patients, koebner phenomenon in 1 patient, and these patients’ treatments were stopped.
Conclusion:
Topical tretinoin has limited efficacy for the treatment of plaque type psoriasis. Local irritation signs as erythema, burning and pruritus could be seen
