ABSTRACT

Occupational asthma results from exposition to the materials in the working place or it exacerbates with the environmental circumstances. These factors alsa give way or agitation of chronic rhinitis. Occupational factors, which lake place in the development of chronic respiratory diseases, may be different according to the countries and the situations in the working places. We asked our patients jobs that were sent to asthma and allergy clinic. The patients between 15-50 ages were totally 921 in number (351 men 570 women). 247 patients suffered chronic rhinitis. 133 asthma and 541 had both diseases. Thejobs were as follows: 35.1% housewife, 16.8% student, 12.2% offıcer, 10.2% textile worker, 3.36% construction worker, 2.6% medical staff, 1.95% teacher, 1. 7% cleaning staff, 1.4% cook, 1.08% carpenter, 0.86% hairdresser, 0.4% baker. For the treatment of occupational respiratory disease, it is important to stop working temporarily or permanently, and conditioning of workplace. For these reasons doctors should always ask the job and try to fınd a relation between the disease and the job.
