ABSTRACT
Ischaemic (occluswe) cerebrovascular atacks are caused by either thrombosis due to atheroscherosis, ıncluding arterıolar enıbolı, as from carotid artery plaques, embolic attacks of cardıac origin and lacunar states due to arteriolar occlusion. 173 subjects (mean age; 58,4 years! of ischaenııc cerebrovascular disease analysed in a prospective nıanner. Differential diagnosis was confirnıed by CT (Conıputerızed Tomography) sean. It was found that sex, aleohal consumption, smoking, carotid bruits, hyperuricemia and hyperlipıdenıia had no significant effects on outcome of the patients. On the contrary: age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiac disease, transient ischaemic attacks (TIA) abesity and ıncreased heamatocrit levels were found to have significant effects on the prognosis.
