ABSTRACT

Objectives:

In Type ll Diabetics, we want to provide optimal glycemic control by using insulin plus metformin treatment and to see the impacts of this co ndition on lipid profiles.

Patients and Methods:

15 men and 15 women were enrolled in this study, mean aged 59.4±10.9 years, diabetic mean aged 12.3±6.3 years. They were using only oral antidiabetics. We started insulin plus metformin as stopping the ir first regime. Bejare treatment and end of the 12 weekly treatment, we analyzed lipid and glycemic profi/es to compare the estimations.

Results:

I nitıal meanfasting glucose was 251±54.5 mg 1 d/, after treatınent; it's 167±50.3 mg!dl (p0.05).

Conclusion:

Combined treatment which contains insulin and metformin has got positive effects on lipid profi/es as providing the optimal glycemic control in type ll diabetics.
