ABSTRACT

Sublingual ıraumatic ulceration is a rarely see n re active lesion that occurs on the ventral surface of the tongue in neonates and infants. lt develops asa result of repetitive trauma of the tower incisor teeth and immune response to the trauma.

Our report is an eight month-old infant ma/e that have sublingual wide ulceration. He was thought to have malignity and examined by biopsy. Histopathologically there was ulceration in mucosa.ln submucosa these lesion was characterized by a mixed inflammatory reaction that includes eosinophils, lymphocytes, and plasma cells. After the conservative treatment that focused on eliminating the source of trauma, nearly total healing was observed.

The diagnosıs of this lesion is very important because it has ability to simulate a malignant process. lt is often associated with familial dysautonomia, microcephaly and treatment is possible by simple methods.
