ABSTRACT

Inflammatory pseudotumor of the lung is an uncommon nonneoplastic tumor of unknown origin. This tumor typically manifests as a solitary, peripheral and sharply circumscribed mass. Multiple lesions are seen in about 5% of cases. Most of the patients are under 40 years of age and complain mainly of non-specific symptoms. Many synonyms have been used for this disease, usually in relation to the most represented cell type: plasma cell granuloma, inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, fibroxanthoma, histiocytoma, or pseudoneoplastic pneumonia.
