ABSTRACT

Ischemic cardiomyopathia is an increasing problemmatic chronic disease and a frequent cause of hospitalization in recent years. In this patient population insulin resistance may develop regarding to the differences in enzymatıc activity and glucose metabolism. In this study transthorasic echocardiography were performed ın in 50 nondiabetic ıschemic cardiomiyopathia patients and 25 healthy controls. Insulin and C-peptide levels were analised. These hormone levels were significantly higher in patients than controls. We conclude that insulin resistance may affect therapy and prognosis in patients with iscemic cardiomiyopathia.
