ABSTRACT

Objective:

To evaluate the efficiency and safety of reusable and disposable plaques used as cautery.

Methods:

A study was undertaken between 07.03.2011 and 16.05.2011 on 496 operated patients inside the operating rooms of I.E.A.H. (except for the eyes and emergency operating rooms).

Results:

The result of the study showed that no complication arose from the use of reusable and disposable cautery plaque.

Conclusion:

Based on this conclusion, reusable and disposable plates can be considered as effective and reliable if periodic maintenance and calibration of cautery devices are made regularly, the staff are trained accordingly and application is made to the correct patient and r part of the body.
