In the eye department of SSK İstanbul Hospital 127 corneal foreign bodies cases were examined between the dates of 19 th December 1992 and 5 th March 1993. The patients were asked the fallawing questions; age and job of the patient, how long patient been working at the job that they are holding? At the time of injury what was the patient doing? The location of foreign body? Was foreign body tried to be taken out by somebody else? W as the patient examined by a doctor? W as the patient using medicine? Whether it was work injury? Duration between injury and application to hospital? Whether it was written on the application pa per that if it was work injury. If there was eye protecter in the work place if there was and not used, why? If there was anybody to check that eye protector was used? By finding out average recovering time of worker expenses paid for this time, medication costs and wage paid to the doctor it has been estimated that how much a corneal foregein body cases would cost to both SSK and countries economy. As a result working with eye protector is useful for the healing of eye, and controlling is necessary for the the economy of SSK and the country.
