ABSTRACT

Subject:

We aimed with this study to define the dwgnostic value of doppler ultrasonography and tumor markers in ovarian malignancies.

Methods:

We included in this study, 33 patients who adressed to our Baktrkoy SSK obstetric clinic with adnexial mass. Transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasonography were performed for each of them. We measured resistance index with pulsed colored doppler for each case in reproductwe age at the 6.day of menses. Venous plasma were draw ned and stored at -20°C until analysis. Tumor markers were performed with radioimmunoassay method. Statistical analysis were done with student t test and p<0,05 were accep· ted as significant.

Results:

in this study, among 33 cases, we found out 15 patients (46%) with benign, 18 patients (64%) with mallgnant lesions. When the cut off value of resistence index was taken as 0.5, 14 cases among 18 malignant, and 13 cases among 15 benign ones were recognised with pulsed colored ultrasonography. Whereas, for the differential dia-gnoszs between malignant vs benign lesions, the tumor markers, and doppler ultrasonography sensitivity values were respectively found as 89% , and specificity value as 60%. When taken together, sensitivity and specificity values raised up to 94,4% and 73% respectively.

Conclusion:

We concluded that important clues are provided when tumor markers and doppler ultrasonographical meas· urements were considered together to differentiate between malignant and benign lesions.
