ABSTRACT

Cataract is one of the microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus. The diabetic cataract seems widely in noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus but it is an unusual manifestation in insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Our case was twenty three years old male patient and his diabetes was bad controlled. We saw "true diabetic" or "snow flake cataract" while examining his eyes that is specific for insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. It is thought that diabetic cataracts are caused by Aldose reductase, polyol pathway in the bad metabolic controlled diabetic persons.
