Objectives:
We investigated the difference in hospital mortality between men and women with myocardial infarction (MI).
Methods:
A total of 3159 patients (2329 male, 830 female) who admitted to the coronary care unit were included in our study. Data regarding age, sex, marital status, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking habits, history of MI, and physical examination during admission of these patients were recorded. Differences were compared with chi-square test.
Conclusion:
The in-hospital mortality was higher in female patients in all age groups in our study.
