The determination of Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin (CDT) for diagnosing alcoholism and fallawing treatment has gained importance.In our study, we determined the levels of total transferrin (TF), CDT, Aspartate Transaminase (AST), Alanin Transaminase (ALT), Gammaglutamyl-transferase (GGT), Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH), Allcaline Phosphatase (ALP), Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV) and % CDT in 22-alcohol-dependent subjects, 22 patients having non-alcoholic fatty liver and in 22 healthy control subjects. In aleohal dependent subjects, patients having non-alcoholic fatty liver and in control subjects, serum total TF (mg 1 L), serum CDT (mg 1 L) and % CDT levels were found as 7124±1668; 9630±3556, 8420±3538; 16.0±3.1, 6.0±1.8, 6.9±2.3; 5.3±1.2, O. 70±0.08, 1.1±0.5 respectively. The levels of serum total TF were found significantly higher in the patients having non-alcoholic fatty liver comparing to those of other groups (p<0.05).
