Mucormycosis is an invasive fungal infection caused primarily by fungi of the order Mucorales. In the majority of cases, it is associated with an underlying disorder, such as diabetes mellitus with ketoacidosis, or with immunocompromising factors, but it may also appear in healthy people, although rarely. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical to prevent an otherwise fatal outcome. We report a case of rhinoorbital mucormycosis. Following a review of the literature, requirements for diagnosis and treatment are evaluated.
