Pravalance and Treatment of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo of Boxers

Pravalance and Treatment of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo of Boxers Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV) is one of the most common vestibuler disorders. Particul repositioning maneuvers is simple and effective treatment method in BPPV. In our study we evaluated 97 boxers, in 18 we diagnosed a BPPV in SSK Göztepe Hospital ENT Clinic in December 2002. Their ages were between 16-40 (average 28 ). Treatment results were compared to those of 18 consecutive patients with idiopathic BPPV in same month. Boxers were treated with Epley maneuver. %88.8 of boxers had complete resolution of their symptoms. We concluded that Epley maneuver is effective treatment for BPPV in boxers.
