Gallbladder carcinoma is usually diagnosed in late stages and survival is very low in cholecystectomy operations for cholelithiasis, in situ or microinvasive carcinoma incidences is 1-3,5%.in gallbladder carcinoma, the mean age is 73 years. Finally, patients with dysplasia on average are 5 years younger than those with carcinoma in situ and patients with carcinoma in situ are on average 10 years younger than those with invasive carcinoma. This has shown that invasive carcinoma of the gallbladder is preceeded by dysplasia and carcinoma in situ. 696 cholecystectomy cases for cholelithiasis that operated in our hospital, between January 2001 and July 2001 were examined. Two cases of incidental carcinoma were observed. In both cases, first dysplasia regions were found, than much more examples were taken from tissue specimens. İn situ carcinoma was found in first case, and microinvasive carcinoma was found in second case. In our case reports, incidental carcinoma incidences is 0,3%. It is very low from the general known incidence of 1-3,5%. We think it is because of the low example number from specimens. Early carcinomas are non-polypoid, flat and granular. They are mostly found in fundus and body. Examples form specimens should be taken from fundus, corpus and from irregular granuler mucosal parts of gallbladder.
