Lipid metabolism abnormalities in patients with chronic renal failure and the effect of hemodialysis and renal transplantation on lipid fractions. In patıents w ith chronic renal failure the cardıovascular mortality rate is high. The correlation between high Cholesterol, LDL-Cholesterol, Apo B and low HDL-Cholesterol, Apo A-I levels w ith higher cardiovascular risk rate have been proved by data obtained from many different studies. In this study, the lipid, lipoprotein and apolipoprotein profılıes of patients w ith chronic renal failure, and the effect of hemodialysis and renal transplantation on these parameters were analyzed. W e examined 17 patients in predialysis period, 31 patients on hemodialysis and 20 patients who have undergone renal transplantation and we concluded that hypertrigliseridemia, low HDL-Cholesterol and Apo A-I levels in predialysis doesn't have a major protective effect and even after a successful renal transplanlation the cardiovascular morbidity and mortality rate stili remains high.
