Helicobacter Pylori Infection In The Tobacco Smokers with Gastritis

Objectives:

We investigated the infection of Helicobacter pylori in tobacco smokers with gastritis.

Patients and Methods:

Totally 50 patients were taken to the study. First group was consist of smokers; 12 women and 18 men. Second group was consist of nonsmokers; 9 women and 11 man.All patients went on upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and two couples of biopsies were taken from antrum and corpus of stomach. These materials were dyed with haematoxylene-eosine and were found out helicobacter pylori. Statistical evaluation was performed by chi-square test and student’s t test.

Results:

About helicobacter pylori incidence, There was no statistically significant difference between two groups (p<0.05).

Conclusion:

Tobacco smoking has no effect about helicobacter pylori incidence.
