Purporse:

We compared the results of intraocular pressare (!OP! measurements of the axial myopıc patıents made by the Goldman ap planation tonometer and the Reichert XPERT plus non contact tonometer.

Material and Method:

43 eyes of the 23 patıents who had at least -5.00 d myopia and as a control group, 36 eyes o{ the 18 patients who had no refractwn error were taken ın the study. The ıops o{ the both group were measured wıth Goldman ap planation tonometer and the Reıchert XPERT plus non contact tonometer by the same ophthalmologıst.

Results:

In the myopıc group ıop values measured with the goldman applanation tonometer was 16+/-3.8 mmHg, ıop values measured with the Reıchert XPERT plus non contact tonometer was 18.5+/-5.8 in average. In the control group the nıeasurements of ıop made wıth the Goldman applanatıon tonometer and the Reichert XPERT plus non contact tonometer were 17.6+/-4.3 and 18.6+/-7.0 respectively. In the myopıc group as well as in the control group there was no difference stastıcally meanıngful.

Conclusion:

The Goldman applanation tonometer and the Reichert XPERT plus non contact tonometer has no superiorı ties over each other in measuring the ıop of the myopic patıents.
