In this study we applied calcitonin Sandoz which isa synthetic salmon calcitonin as a free elinical trial to 40 patients with clinically and dencitometric diagnosed type II. osteoporosis, ages ranging between 70-76 and we evaluated the results. Functional capacity, pain and mobility scores were considered as evaluation parameters. Calcitonin 100 lU I. M. daily was used in 40 patients in the two weeks 5 days and later on 3 days in a week for 10 weeks 25 patients noted full benefit (62.5 %) 13 patients noted moderate benefit. (32.5 %) Generally tolerance to the drug is good.
