Objectives:

In this study, we searched one of the acute phase reactants; C-reactive protein (CRP) in type II diabetics.

Patients and Methods:

The study consisted of two groups Group I was the patient group, consisted of 30 type II diabetics; (15 men and 15 women). Group II was the control group, consisted of 20 nondiabetics; (10 men and 10 women). Tnere wass no significant difference between two groups in gender, age and body mass index (BMI) (Tablo II). Student’s test was used in statistical analysis.

Results:

There was significant difference between two groups about fasting blood glucose (p>0.001), HbA1C (p<0.001) and CRP (p<0.05).

Conclusion:

C-Reactive protein level is higher in type II diabetics. Tendency for imflammation in type II diabetics may explain of higher indicence the atherosclerotic complications in them.
