A case of myxoedema presenting with cardiac tamponade

Myxedema coma is a rare form of hypothyroidism with a high mortality rate usually in untreated patients. The clinical picture may be called decompanseted hypothyroidism. It is usually precipitated by an acute illness or travma. Myxedema coma is the most serious complication of hypothyroidism. Pericardial effusion is frequently found in patients diagnosed with hypothyroidism, yet it is rarely associated with cardiac tamponade. In this report, a 62 year old , undiagnosed hypothyroid woman complicated with cardiac tamponade is presented.
